JOB DESCRIPTION

As our Data Engineer you will be responsible for designing, building and deploying our data pipeline architecture to build data science models.  The right candidate will implement an analytical environment throughout the expansion and optimization of our databases.

 

You will be expected to use your expertise by providing meaningful recommendations and developing best practices that includes system integration and technologies used in the design, construction, testing, deployment, and operation of BI solutions.

Initiatives include Data Modelling, Data Integration & Master Data Management, and will be a key business support on other Data Strategy initiatives including, data quality, metadata, data security and Analytics.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
  • Design technology infrastructure to support performance, availability, and architecture requirements.
  • Participate in testing of data design, tool design, data extracts, and hardware.
  • Conduct business and functional requirements gathering and provide project estimates.
  • Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
  • Experience with meta data management, data stewardship, data quality, IT and Data Governance, and Enterprise Data Models.
  • Experience with data mart access models and dimensional modeling skills.

QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of data architecture experience.
  • University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau or SAS Visual Analytics.
  • Management of AWS or Google cloud services.
  • Experience with big data tools: Hadoop (Hive, Kafka, Drill).
  • Knowledge of Python, R, SAS or Matlab.
  • Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.
  • Sometimes work during the weekends is needed.
  • Team player with leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and initiative.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work effectively under time constraints.

As our Data Analyst you will be responsible for the descriptive statistical analysis and presentation of our data. This includes the preparation of reporting, dashboards, KPIs, business performance metrics, as well as encompassing anything referred to as "Business Intelligence." This role will require interaction with (or querying of) databases, both relational and non-relational, as well as with other data frameworks.

 

You will be expected to use your expertise by providing recommendations about the methods and ways in which our company obtains data to improve their quality and consistency. You will develop best practices regarding data presentation, data analysis, and data visualization.

 

AS A DATA ANALYST YOU WILL

  • Assist with all aspects of delivering reports on a regular basis (refresh reports, conduct QA, summarize findings and key insights).
  • Revise PowerBI dashboard content as required to meet changing business needs (create new measures, develop new visualizations, and add new data sources).
  • Provide support in answering business questions.
  • Export and manipulate data as needed from different sources, help identify trends or anomalies, and assist with summarizing findings.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Data Quality and reporting processes for greater efficiency.
  • Provide experience with data quality, IT and Data Governance.
  • Document and update reports and analysis.

QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • University degree in Business, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Data Analyst related role.
  • High proficiency with Power BI (including connecting to data sources, creating new measures and visualizations, and building dashboards that tell a compelling story) o Tableau.
  • High proficiency in SQL.
  • Experience coding on Python, Lua, R or SAS.
  • Experience with Google cloud services. (it would be an asset).
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Word skills.
